The Kentucky Wildcats football team kicked off the 2018 college football season on Saturday, hosting Central Michigan at Kroger Field in Lexington. Turnovers would plague the CATS in the 1st half, as Kentucky turned the ball over 4 times, but still held a 21-20 halftime lead over the Chippewas. The 2nd half would be a lot smoother for UK with no turnovers and the CATS went on for a 35-20 win. Junior running back Benny Snell rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries and Soph. running back A.J. Rose had two touchdowns with 104 yards on eight carries. Junior College transfer Terry Wilson made his first career start at quarterback on Saturday and struggled a bit, finishing the game going 11-18 for 78 yards, but had three turnovers. Fellow QB Gunnar Hoak finished 4 of 9 for 50 yards and a TD. Kentucky (1-0) will travel to “The Swamp” on Saturday to face the Florida Gators (1-0) in their first SEC game for both teams. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM and available on WSIP 98.9 FM, part of the UK Radio Network.
